The simple answer is that the kernel is essentially the brain and the headers are kind of a go between. That being said if you anyone is not familiar with Linux, or Arch specifically I understand it can seem daunting to figure out what headers are or what a kernel is. Having xone pre-installed would be nice but there are also other options such as xpadneo, I'm sure a lot of people would like to have a choice and not be locked in to one option.
